Kudos to melvin for helping out the defence today .. Dun blame him for the penalty because if he was the old him.. he wouldnt even be at the defence at the penalty area don't you think? heh I like the way how he tackle lightly and still manage to get the ball near the line
Oh for corners conceded I thought it would be good for the wingers to cover short for their respective wing. I.E darren shi for the left and melvin for the right.. Not very pleasant if they play short and we are caught..
i lack of trainin... wil train more to get better... anyway i find the team start to play as a team more... wif Kun as last man, there is nth to worry bout... eventually, they r the better team... other than luck, our defence oso did a great job... onli several tyms their speed lose out the opponents... the challenge of balls is not really fierce... opponents can head the ball easily... if we wan to win the challenge, we hv to b fierce...
continue from whr i hv stopped... Keeper---did a great job... especially preventin the penalty goal...nids to command more...durin the game, i onli heard the keeper shoutin twice or thrice...keeper shd intimidate the defence tgt wif the last man... Kun--a tough last man... able to clear the balls away at the right tym n play wif the ball at the correct manner... however, i tink we shd at least rest Kun so tat he wil not b so tired...so by gettin another average-rated llast man to replace Kun the last 10 mins or so... cos in competitions, we cant sub out a player n sub him in again... Melvin--lost out to the opponents easily in term of speed... anyway, i tink by puttin Melvin in the defence is 50% right, 50% incorrect...he did take over the role as a mid-field at times durin the match n played well in tat position...but when he lost possession of the ball, he cant run as fast as the opponent because he had already used most of his speed on attackin...thus, the defence wil not b v strong... Shem--played better than the previous match...wad he mus take note is not to commit...if he does not hv the confident to hold on to the ball, release immediately...be it pass or clear.../ Chewyi--prevent several balls from crossed n passed... *didnt reali notice Shem n Chewyi* Zhi Yung--did well...the onli mistake i spotted is tat he do not noe whr is the opponent when he wanted to get the high ball...he concentrated too much on the ball n when the ball is comin down, the opponent can easily head it away without ZY knowin he is near him... he has to b fierce in tacklin the ball... DEFENCE--commit too much in the game...got tricked a lot of times by their "fancy" trick...too eager to win over the ball, thus resultin several mistakes...mus learn to communicate well...i could recall tat when the opponent is attackin, 2 to 3 defenders r takin one opponent...n when the opponent faked them, all 2 to 3 of them lost focus on the ball n they could pass the ball through them... Darren--obviously everyone saw tat he do not dare to challenge for the ball...wad i suggest is tat instead of gg for the ball, go for his body...jump n try to head the ball, if u noe u cant, at least DUN let the opponent get it...tis is wad i did in the game...=) his passin is accurate at times... he mus oso noe when to pass n when to dribble... Daren--intention of winnin the ball is there...but tacklin is rough...dun giv the referee the chance to warn u...same thing, Deran must know when to pass n when to dribble...he mus oso noe when to help out in the attack n defence... Raja--a tough guy winnin most of the challenge...if he uses his body correctly, he will become a great ball stopper...asked for the ball at the correct position when we won the throw-in...the winnin actually could b stopped by the keeper if Raja is not at tat area...he was in front of the goalpost n when the ball came in, he was there to head it in, preventin the keeper from divin out to get the ball...great job... Waikin--didnt notice much but he did a great job too...=) sry cant comment much cos i dun reali notice hw u play cos i focus much on havin my name on the scorer list...=X MID-FIELD--shd ty more through pass...Yu Zheng wil b able to get to the ball fast...mid-field is the onli position n is oso the most impt position...it stopped the ball from enterin the danger zone (defence) n providin chances for the strikers to score...mid-field shd work tgt wif the defence to destroy the opponents hope of scorin n tgt wif the strikers to break through the opponent's defence...shd try to shoot when its possible... Yu Zheng--noe whr to pass the ball n when to pass the ball...he could hv scored several goals if he did not missed those shots...anyway he is a great partner...love attackin wif him... Yong Liang--lack of stamina to run...made lots of mistake in the game...but the onli i like is tat he faked the opponent n crossed the ball in...but be4 tat he made a mistake by runnin after the ball wif Melvin...mus noe when to run after the ball n when to challenge for the ball...he did well in challengin the ball in the second half, when the time is bout 15mins to the final whistle...when the keeper passed the ball to the defender, he ran over tryin to win the ball...despite the keeper sayin "haven start yet", he chased for the ball...n in the end, he block the clearance from the keeper... STRIKER--NO offside made by the striker at all...=) ...shd hv try shootin when its poosible... FREEKICK--on target but not strong enough...freekicks mus b strong so tat when the ball didnt go in, at least it wil rebounce n anyone near the ball n jus finish it... THROW-IN--other than the foul throws, everythin is fine...the onli thing is tat those ppl near the ball mus run to the open space so tat the thrower wil not find it difficult throwin to u...the thrower mus oso hv the strength to deliver the ball as far as possible...the thrower mus oso take note tat when he released the ball, he mus make sure the person receivin the throw wil not lose the ball(when the throw is too strong n the first touch on the ball is not well-controlled)...
Oh another thing.. Playing offside trap is NOT compulsory.. please let the defenders have the choice to play it or not.. Its easy to say "check the line check offside" but with so many things on the mind during the game sometimes its safer to choose NOT to play the offside trap...
Especially when the opponent's striker are fast and our defenders are tired.. its suicidal
hi..sorry i got not much time so i will write briefly.I will elaborate more when i have the time.
1st thing i want to do is apologise for walking off midway thru the first half.Bcos i felt i was playing terribly..and i was really very kan cheong. As said previously i get nervous very easily..hopefully i can conquer that fear soon.If not i will be a liability to u guys.
ok generally i wld say the opponent didnt deserve to lose(not that they deserve to win)The 2 corners were brilliantly taken and the opponents didnt know how to deal with them.
Attk- Didnt do as well as last game.I think there were only 2-3 shots the whole game(from whole team) as seen from the sidelines.
Mid-Was struggling to contain their attacks and basically we were forced to defend deep in our own half. The wingers should have helped out the centre mids as it was clear the centre guy was pulling all the strings. That guy is not skillful or physically strong. But he sprays passes accurately and he knows what/where their players are going to do.
Defence-Resillent(is that how u spell it).But prone to ocasionally lapse in concentration. One incident is firmly in my mind.I think it was nearing the end of the match.3 of our players went for 1 guy on their left flank.ALL COMMITTED.the guy twisted and turned in our PENALTY BOX and shot..but yuyang cleared it off the line.It was shocking...Kun was excellent but he is also prone to the ocasionally concentration lapse.
Finally..i notice that the(captain) only talks to certain group of people during halftime..or b4 the match. The whole team should be involved..including those that we are not familiar with. That is my feedback. If u think that it doesnt exist..then just ignore this.
The bottom line is we won.Even though they played better ..the end result is all that matters. If 1 or 2 years ago we were playing them..we would have been trashed. But instead we emerge victorious. This shows u how far we have progressed.Gd job people.
4 years ago, a similar team of us played against a similar team formed from them, the scoreline was around 8-1.
now, we won 2-1, speaking volume that we have improved tremendously. Credits have to be given to the entire defence, namely, Chewyi, Waikin, Renkun and Bong. They basically singlehandledly kept the team alive with their courageous defending, if not the game could be up by half time. second half we played better, because opponents are tired and they got frustrated despite their enormous amount of possessions, they could not find the back of the net. We capitalised on corners, which is something we are getting used to rely on. 4 goals from corners in the last 2 games already. Fullbacks did the share of overlapping and no complains can be given and aerial challenges in defence are won in majority by kun and waikin. superb defending but committing to challenges could prove vital. if i m not wrong, its the hurried committing that led to the goal by them. 2-3 players there, 1 to contain, 1 to commit, so there are still cover in that area in case the worst scenario arises. throws in by chewyi was a distinct difference compared to last match, fast precise and useful. bong was exceptional, his presence was really felt after his introduction. waikin has risen up to the occasion with his constant barking at the team and he should increase the frequently too.
Moved on to midfield. Darren didnt have a good game by his standard, got marked out of the game. Full blame has to be given to me for failure to not winning headers, giving away fouls needlessly and ball watching on several occasions, not spreading out play to the flanks, not marking the key player in midfield properly thus allowing him to roam freely as he wishes. however, special praise has to be given to melvin for defending like a warrior for this game. though that penalty conceded is his mistake, he redeemed himself with a performance that i had nvr seen for a long while. winning some headers and doing numerous of tracking backs, that alone has improved his game tremendously. yuzheng did well, helping win most of the headers so the midfield can try to play, linking up play very well, no problems with another brave performance from him. yongliang is different, needs to play back abit and spread out more because at that instance we are defending like mad, pushing too high up is useless, should make yourself useful. yes, u are playing like a striker but our team cant operate tt system just yet so you have to do ur fair share too. don rely on yuzheng too heavily. zhiyung came on and did well too. except he was rash to the challenge and was off in terms of positioning at times too. more games could solve the problem.
It's our second game as (insert)FC and it was a totally different game from the first.
We were being dominated by the opponents, we couldnt get out of our half much but we should great character, we showed that we can fight hard and tough for the ball. Which I am proud of the team.
We have a proper gk this time, the gk wasnt troubled much, couple of easy save. The keeper should not be blamed for the goal we conceeded.
Defenders, chew yi did well defensively and running up to support. Did very well to mark and pressurise the opponents. Ren kun was dominant, did alot of good header clearence from corners or attack. Couple of times he was the last man but did very well to stop the attacks. Wai Kin, proves why he deserve to be the cb week in and week out yet again. With superb tackles and his air supremacy. Never shrug off a challenge. Very strong and quick to mark off their attackers.
Darren, didnt have much attack to do due to lack of space. Very well taken corner which led to the goal. Daren, fought very hard for the ball but shouldnt piss the referee off too much.
Yuzheng did very well to win headers from goal kick or long passes. Very strong in the air. unluckly not to have scored. Yong Liang should be more aware with the area, dont go for the same ball as your team mate.
As a team I think we've come a long way from where we were in the past. We fought well, but a couple of things to improve on. Most of us just watch the opponent with the ball, one guy should always be pressuring him. Strikers should try to get infront of the defenders when crosses come in.
sorry for this late comment.. been really busy the past week with army stuff, my camp sending me to this dumb 2 week course...
basically from wat i observed both during my time playing n when i was sub-ed out n watching from the sidelines, the opponents deserved a draw.. i think most of us shld know both goals were rather lucky..
bong told me his comments after the match.. one thing he was angry abt was the keeper as he felt he's really not good, goal kicks were bad n blaming defence at times for his mistakes... he said if it was his team he would have scolded him back for poor commanding of the defence..
defence wise i believe we did a good job.. the left back at first was playing as if he had nv played soccer b4, giving away balls all too easily n really endangering the team.. fortunately my friend bong was ard to help out n left back was his natural position he plays for his team.. ren kun n wai kin had a solid partnership.. ren kun was coincidently my friend so with him as my cover i had more trust to go forward to help melvin.. i think he really played well other than some minor mistakes but heard he doesn't wanna join which is sad... bong suggested wai kin shld play as DM instead.. maybe we can consider this suggestion..? as for myself.. i make mistakes as well, commiting too fast sometimes n even more hilarious was my kick of the ball that was already going out but in my attempt to salvage it, i kicked it over the fence.. paiseh ar...
midfield was pretty disastrous in winning headers.. even when we do get headers, it heads to no where.. but bong pointed out that darren was really zai down the left wing esp his crosses n corner kicks.. however, he didn't have gd comments for daren, whom he felt gave away needless fouls, some more like kung-fu kicks and as captain, he failed to command the midfield properly.. shem was a surprise pulling himself off so early.. but his replacement raja was no better.. though his my friend, i have to admit he's useless n anonymous almost the whole game.. his goal was also a result of him being at the right place at the right time.. i believe without him there someone else could also have got the goal.. but i think he can still be a gd sub where he can come on for tired legs during the last 30 min or so & add depth to the team.. as for melvin.. i have to say this time he finally helped me defend a little.. i thank him for his efforts as they are really appreciated.. i think i still have to work on my overlapping as none of my attempts succeeded n often u are alone on the right flank but i'm still trying..
bong commented that our strikers are not taking their chances.. thought chances are few, we shld have finished them when they come.. maybe we can work on that..
all in all, we had a pretty good outing.. opponents were reasonbly strong but we didn't let them steam roll over us like the last time.. we shld count ourselves lucky esp like how the guy mis-kicked his penalty.. last thing to ponder about, one thing we have always have difficulty is our goal keeping woes.. where can we finally find our van der sarr??? we all remember ben calamity james tay.. we are in dire nd of a good keeper...
